Research, Publishing, and Presenting. Louisa has researched and published the Branscomb Mentor Method™, a humanistic model for mentoring, and her songwriting approach, Transformational Songwriting – also developed over decades and used with professional songwriters as well as with at-risk populations.

These combined contributions in songwriting, performing, mentoring, and community building earned her the coveted “Distinguished Achievement Award” in 2017 for her pioneering work in “expanding and furthering the genre of bluegrass music.” 

The story of songwriter Louisa Branscomb rebuilding her farm and songwriter retreat, Woodsong Farm, after the devastating 2011 tornado that killed 460 people is a living example of Transformational Songwriting in Louisa’s own journey. as a transformational writing. Her inspiration and guide for the 3-year recovery process was, ironically, a prophetic song she had written, This Side of Heaven, released the day before the storm (recorded by the Whites on Louisa's CD, "I'll Take Love.")
